Although its debut is set for the 2015 Mobile World Congress, Sasmung's next smartwatch is being beset by rumors galore.

The anticipated features on the new smart device include a fingerprint scanner that will enable the device to secure payments from the wearable tech.

The reveal date will be close to rival Apple's launch date of its smartwatch, the Apple Watch. One of the big features on the first Apple smartwatch is the capability of approving payments from the device, which happens initially through a personal identification number.

As long as the Apple Watch is in contact with the user's skin, which the device determines with special sensors on its underside, subsequent payments with the device won't need the PIN.

Rumors suggest Samsung has partnered with international e-commerce giant PayPal, Slash Gear's JC Torres said "somewhat gives it an edge over Apple Pay if only in the sense that PayPal is a bit more open compared to Apple's garden."

Balances and transactions via the smartwatch could be checked through text, which could potentially mean Samsung's next smartwatch could have its own network connectivity.

The new setup could be problematic in Samsung's home market of South Korea as PayPal isn't available in the country.

Although the Seoul-based company has been in the smartwatch industry long before Apple announced the Apple Watch, Samsung hasn't yet delved into the concept of mobile payments in the same way as Apple.

Meanwhile, pictures and details of another of Samsung's devices have been leaked.

Samsung-tracking blog SamMobile obtained pictures and details on what is allegedly Samsung's Galaxy A5 smartphone, a mid-range model the company plans to release along with three other devices under the Galaxy A product line.

The alleged Galaxy A5 could sport a 5-inch super active-matrix organic LED screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels; a front-facing 5 megapixel camera and a 13 megapixel main camera.

It could also be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 16 gigabytes of internal storage, a microSD card slot for expandable memory and a 2,300mAh battery.
