Alaska TV News Anchor Goes Up In Smoke

Anchorage, Alaska's KTVA-11 reporter Charo Green took "take this job and shove it" to a higher level Sunday when she went "F*** it, I quit," on air while covering a story about legalizing marijuana.

Greene was doing a report on the marijuana legalization in the state when she blew up the story in a timeless way. Saying she was owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club that was the subject of the report, she threw up her hands and said as "the actual owner" of the club she was dedicating all her energy to fighting for the freedom and fairness that began with legalizing pot.

With that, Greene added, as for this job, well, "not that I have a choice, but -- expletive deleted -- I quit."

Directors cut back to news anchor Alexis Fernandez who swallowed hard, paused and managed a voto soce comment before moving on with the news.

For their part, KTVA-11 News posted tweets apologizing to viewers, saying they had fired Greene for using inappropriate language on the air. They also posted an apology on their website again apologizing for the language during the live news show.

The station didn't explain how they fired someone who had already quit, but that's another story.

Greene further explained her motives and support for legal marijuana on the Alaska Cannabis Club page on Indiegogo, the crowdsource fundraising site. The club has raised about half of its $5,000 goal on the site.

Greene said on Indiegogo she just quit her news reporting job on live TV to redirect all her energy to passing Alaska Ballot Measure 2, a measure to regulate marijuana like liquor in Alaska and keep the ball rolling toward the national legalization of pot.
