Boutique computer manufacturer Origin said it will now offer the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 and 980 graphics cards as configurable options for those who choose its Chronos, Genesis and Millennium gaming PCs.

The GTX 970 and 980 are the latest additions to the catalogue of Nvidia graphic cards. The new cards will replace the GTX 770, 780 and 78oTi graphics processing units as the company's top-of-the-line single GPU selections.

The GeForce GTX 970 has 1,664 Compute Unified Device Architecture cores, clocking at an average of 1,050 megahertz. If overclocked, however, it will run at 1,178MHz.

The 970 will sport a 7,000MHz memory clock and 4 GB of GDDR5 random access memory, which is double than that of the GTX 770.

The 970 will also feature a memory bandwidth of 224 GB per second and a 256-bit memory bus, similar to the 770 which it is replacing. The card will also have three DisplayPort connectors, a dual-link Digital Visual Interface and a single High-Definition Multimedia Interface port.

The 970 is more power efficient than its predecessor. The GTX 970 has a thermal design power, (a measurement of power consumption) of 145 watts, which is almost a hundred watts lower than the 320 required by the GTX 770.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 980, on the other hand, runs on 2,048 CUDA cores. It sports a base lock of 1,126MHz, and is overclocked at 1,216MHz.

Just like the 770, it has a memory clock of 7,000MHz, 4 GB of RAM, a 256-bit memory bus and a memory bandwidth of 224GB/s.

One of the advantages of GTX 980 is that it requires less power than the 780Ti, which it's replacing. The 980 has a TDP of 165 watts, while the 780Ti has a TDP of 250.
