According to reports, it has been speculated that the company will be parting ways with Singer after he was accused of sexually abusing actor Michael Egan. Said issue has been thought as the reason why the director and the company haven't come to a consensus.

However, since Egan dropped his allegations against the 'X-Men' director, Fox has decided that Singer will be returning to the directorial seat for the new installment of the movie franchise.

According to sources, Singer will be collaborating with Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty in writing the script.

According to Singer, the new 'X-Men' film will be the most destructive film in the franchise, set ten years after 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'. The characters in the story will be facing an enemy which will bring about the apocalypse as a result of the altered time in the previous movie.

"'Apocalypse' will have more of the mass destruction that 'X-Men' films, to date, have not relied upon," says Singer, adding that the new film will be starring a new character that will allow such an effect in the story.

The upcoming film will still be featuring Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Micheal Fassbender along with Hugh Jackman and the other cast members of the second installment.

Additionally, it is rumored that Channing Tatum will also be making his appearance in the film as the French mutant Remy LeBeau, otherwise known as Gambit.

Singer has suggested that the new film may feature younger versions of the mutant characters as it is set in the 1980s.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' will begin its production next year and will be released in theatres in May 27, 2016.
