Casio's most recent smartphone-connected Bluetooth watch is the G-Shock GBA-400, which prioritizes music over measuring fitness levels or delivering notifications.

The new watch from Casio was developed to interact with the electronics manufacturer's G'Mix app, to which it connects via Bluetooth. The user can use the combination of side-mounted rotary dial and buttons to operate the device and access its numerous features.

The wearer can use the G-Shock to identify music playing in the environment by making the watch listen for the tune. To turn the ID feature on, one must twist the dial, and with the help of Soundcloud technology, the name of the song will scroll across the built-in screen.

And all without reaching for the user's smartphone, or asking Cortana or Siri. The ID feature is symbolized on the face of the watch with a dial.

When connected to a smartphone, the dial can be used to regulate the music volume playing on the smart device, change the equalizer preset and skip to other songs. Pressing the button on the opposite side of the watch can pause or play tracks.

If a Bluetooth connection is running, the time on the watch will be updated, even if the user travels between time zones.

If the smartphone partnered with the device is missing, the watch will help the owner find the handset by sounding off an alarm.

The app on the phone can manage the functions on the watch such as timers, daily alarms, backlight duration and the amount of time the Bluetooth connection stays active.

The hardware and features are housed in a G-Shock watch housing, which has a durable 51 millimeter shock resistant case waterproof to 200 meters. The battery has a lifespan of two years.

The watch, which comes in black and gold, black and silver, blue and red will retail for US$200 when released in October.
