Facebook pushes to become an e-commerce site apart from being a social network as it pursues the testing phase of its "Buy" button by partnering with Stripe, a payments company.

Facebook has solely commissioned Stripe, a San Francisco-based startup company, to become its sole testing phase partner for the "Buy" button project. Both Facebook and Stripe spokespersons have confirmed the partnership.

This is the second time both companies ventured into business together following a previous project that allows autofill of payment details from Facebook.

Facebook released "Buy" posts on Facebook last July to see how it will look on the platform.

With the "Buy" button, a user will no longer need to exit Facebook to pursue the purchase transaction. The product can be directly purchased from Facebook upon encoding the credit card details of the cardholder.

The credit card details will then be transferred to the seller of the product for processing. The testing phase of the "Buy" button coincides with Twitter's plan to also offer in-app purchases through its platform using a "Buy Now" button.

Despite the sole partnership with Stripe in the early phase of the "Buy" button, it's being reported that Facebook will also seek deals with other payment companies. For one, they've previously worked with Paypal's Braintree for purchase on in-app games and Facebook Gifts.

Re/code has reported that Stripe is also working on the in-app purchase payment system of Twitter and is also a recommended payment system by Apple for its Apple Pay. Just last year, Stripe was able to ink payment partnership deals with prominent names that boosted its market value to US$1.75 billion dollars at present.

Aside from the "Buy" button, Facebook also announced plans to make some changes in how user Newsfeeds queue topics and posts. "Trending topics" that have fast commenting and liking rates may flood one's newsfeed in the future.
