Leaks of LG's alleged next smartwatch suggest it might have 3G capabilities and could function without being paired with a smartphone or tablet.

The Federal Communications Commission has received test results of a device known as the LG VC100. The results provide a glimpse of the rumored first smartwatch and first 3G-connected smartwatch from the South Korean company.

While the wearable tech was listed as a "Smart Watch with CDMA," details weren't clear as to whether it's the beginning of a new line of smart devices or it's still a member of the G Watch series.

A rudimentary image of the device it with a rectangular display. The dimensions listed indicate the smartwatch will be a little smaller than Samsung's Gear S.

As to which mobile service providers is set to have the supposed LG watch, Verizon Communications seems to be one of the most likely candidates. According to a source close to mylgphones.com, the smartwatch has been found in a database that has other Verizon devices listed.

The 3G-capable wearable, allegedly, could be revealed in the last quarter of the year.

While LG allegedly tests the waters with its supposed 3G smartwatch, a Bay Area-based firm is actually making a bendable phablet, a portmanteau of the words "phone" and "tablet," into a forearm-worn wearable.

Startup company Arubixs is currently developing a phablet with a flexible screen. Its intent is to let consumers strap on the device on their forearms.

Flexible displays, which have been around for years, have been showcased at various CES events but never get released. The Portal is one of, if not the only, the smartphones that is built around the flexible screen technology.
