It's a girl for Team Clinton.

Chelsea Clinton, 34, gave birth Friday night to the latest member of one of America's leading political families, a girl named Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.

Following the birth, Clinton tweeted she and Marc were full of love, awe and gratitude celebrating the birth of their daughter.

The Mezvinsky's chose to be surprised when it came to the child's gender. Whatever gender, joy was in the air for the entire family.

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State, and rumored presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton issued a Saturday statement saying they were "blessed, grateful and so happy to be the grandparents of a beautiful girl."

The Clintons senior went on to say they were thrilled to be with Chelsea and Marc as they introduced their child to the world. They said their daughter was glowing while their son-in-law was bursting with pride. Baby Charlotte was off to a good start, they said.

Chelsea Clinton announced the pregnancy in April.  She resigned from her job at NBC News on Aug. 29, saying she and her husband were looking forward to the arrival of their first child..

A very pregnant former first daughter appeared at the Clinton Global Initiative conference where she was vice chairwoman on Tuesday.  President Obama attended the event, saying Chelsea Clinton may have to take over his motorcade to get the hospital more quickly.

Obama jokingly said he had just discussed with Bill Clinton the possibility of signing over his motorcade should Chelsea Clinton start delivering her child while he was delivering his speech.

Bill Clinton told his former press secretary George Stephanopolous, now of ABC News, he wanted his grandchild and any more who may come to believe they have obligations to give back to society to help others who maybe, don't have the same opportunities.
