15 People Injured, Including Children Ages 11 to 17, in Miami Nightclub Shooting

Authorities have confirmed that a shooting in a Miami nightclub called "The Spot" injured 15 people on Sunday, and investigations are still underway as to who the suspects are and what prompted the shooting.

Miami police were called to respond to the incident at around 1a.m. Sunday morning after it was reported that over a 100 shots were fired at the Miami night spot. Authorities stated that there were a lot of teenagers at the club with five of those injured ranging in ages from 11 to 17.

According to Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll, wounded people were both outside and inside the club. Upon arriving at the scene, rescue units reported that there was still active shooting ongoing.

Responders were surprised to discover that there were so many kids in the area at 1a.m. and noted that it was disturbing that the attack transpired in a place where kids were gathered.

Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden noted that one person out of the fifteen was in critical condition while the others were already stable. Burden, however, did not give any details as to the names of the victims but assured that some of them were already able to leave the hospital.

Burden added that the investigators are still interviewing witnesses about the incident in order to understand what transpired.

The spokeswoman noted that it is not yet clear how many shooters there were or what led up to the incident. As of Sunday afternoon, officials had not yet arrested anyone nor had they released to the public the names of the suspects.

Although locals claim the club was for young people, police will still be interviewing the club owner to ask why there were so many underage children present that night. However, it has been reported that the phone number listed for the club was already out of service on Sunday.
