Charlottesville police have found a "new forensic link" connecting the disappearance of 18-year-old Hannah Graham to the disappearance and death of Morgan Harrington.

Harrington, a 20-year-old Virginia Tech student, disappeared in October 2009. Her remains were found a few months later.

Graham's mysterious disappearance has revived the disappearance case of Harrington following the arrest of the suspect, Jesse Matthews.

Virginia State Police refused to provide more details except to say that there is a "new forensic link" connecting the two cases.

The state police said they are pursuing the connection angle in a bid for the family of Harrington to have closure on the fate of their daughter.

Gil Harrington, the mother of Morgan, said that although they are pleased that finally there is a suspect, as well as a link between the two cases, it does not change anything at all in their lives. She added that there will never be a wedding or grandchildren or other memorable life events now that Morgan is gone.

Morgan disappeared on Oct. 17, 2009 after watching a rock band concert at the University of Virginia John Paul Jones arena. She went to the restroom afterwards and when she did not return, her friends called her on her cellphone.

Morgan told them that she was outside the arena and could not re-enter because of some rules. She told her friends not to worry as she was going to find a ride home.

Morgan never came back. Her remains were found in a farm on January 2010. Morgan's purse, cellphone, and identification card were found in a flooded area near the arena the day after her disappearance.

Harrington called on those concerned to find Graham.
