Lorde Releases "Yellow Flicker Beat" for Mockingjay Part 1's OST

Singer Lorde has released the Official Sound Track of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1" entitled "Yellow Flicker Beat". The soundtrack is set to be released November 18 this year, just three days before the movie is slated to hit theatres.

The song definitely has the Lorde-ish vibe as it has multi-tracked vocals, choruses that people would certainly find stuck in their heads, and a twisty beat in the likes of "Tennis Court" and "Royals".

The song is designed to mirror the heroine in the movie, Katniss Everdeen, as she and her companions are in the quest to defeat President Snow of the Capitol.

She first released the song on her Twitter account saying that it's her first attempt at offering what she hopes will be a soundtrack that people would love. Lorde noted that she attempted to get inside Katniss' head and the lines are the results of what she tried to understand.

In one of the epic lines that the singer has crafted, she wrote: I'm a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm/ And the scar that mark my body, they're silver and gold. Critics say that Lorde definitely nailed the Katniss character that is being portrayed: a woman who would go her way to defeat the inevitable.

Lorde also documented the process she has gone through to get the end results, constantly updating her Tumblr page to keep her fans posted.

She noted that she works from midnight until late night as she records her voice on her computer and tries to work around different mixes. She also cited the fans who have supported her album "Pure Heroine".

Aside from Lorde, past contributors for the two first movies of the franchise were Kid Cudi, Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Of Monsters and Men, Arcade Fire and The National.
