Coach uses iPhone to teach student drivers reverse stall parking

A driving school in Wuhan uses a tough method to teach student drivers: using iPhone as a benchmark to practice reverse stall parking.

One student driver describes the unusual method in his Sina Weibo post: "I am practicing reverse stall parking. The coach uses a very tough method to teach us. He puts our cell phone on the yellow line on floor. If we could not do the reverse stall parking right and well, our cell phone will die."

The post is from Jiang, a senior undergraduate student from Huanggang in Wuhan. Last weekend, he was home and went to learn driving in a local driving school with one of his friends, Tai.

For them to learn reverse stall parking, the coach asked them to hand out their cell phones. Everyone was baffled and did not know what the coach was trying to do. Just then, the coach put a cell phone on the yellow line of the parking stall.

"We could not distract even a little. If we did not do well, the cell phone would be crushed by the wheel," said Tai, who uses iPhone 4S. Even though he was driving very carefully, the iPhone 4S was still a little bit skin up on the side when he was doing reverse stall parking.

Other student drivers were in the same situation. Jiang thought that this practice method was funny, so he took the picture and posted it online.

"This is not the craziest thing. The coach has too many crazy and fun teaching methods. Sometimes, he would ask us to take a 100 bill out and put it in the yellow line. If we do not touch the line, we can take the bill back. However, if we touch the line, the bill is given to the coach to buy cigarette," Jiang said.

"After the coach proposes the methods, we will carry those out with the agreement of all the students. The coach says that those methods help students drive more carefully," Jiang added.
