The average annual disposable income of residents comes from an urban and rural household survey to 160 thousand households. After obtaining the data, it is much easier to conduct judgment and comparison of whether there is synchronization between the growth rate of Chinese income and the growth rate of GDP.

With the influence of the structure and work mode of city-countryside, Wang Pingping, Director of Household Survey Office of China's National Bureau of Statistics, introduces that the China's urban and rural income statistics were conducted separately before 2013.

"The income data of city and town was from the survey of city and town households, and the income data of countryside was from the survey of countryside households; the income of city and town residents was counted by disposable income, and the income of rural residents was counted by net income."

However, Wang expresses that it was very difficult to understand the overall income distribution due to the lack of the income data from all population. To change this situation, China's National Bureau of Statistics implemented an integration reform on urban and rural household survey, unifying the name of index, classification, and statistical standard of urban and rural residents' income.

As of the end of 2013, China had collected the past 12 months accounting record of 160 thousand households and summarized the 2013 the statistics of the average annual disposable income of urban and rural residents.
