'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2: The Green Destiny', which is directed by Yuen Woo Ping, will be making its debut on Netflix after the American streaming service announced its partnership with The Weinstein Company (TWC). Based on media reports, the sequel will also be making its debut at global IMAX cinemas which will be taking a larger part in China as Netflix is not available in the country.

The film, which is based on the fifth book of 'The Crane-Iron' series entitled 'Silver Vase, Iron Knight', written by Wang Dulu, features Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh who will be returning to portray the role of Yu Shu Lien, a swordswoman in the first film.

'The Green Destiny', which is a kind of sequel to Ang Lee's 2000 movie that feature Chow Yun Fat and Zhang Zi Yi, will also be seeing the addition of new characters such as the Silent Wolf which will be translated on-screen by actor Donnie Yuen.

However, after the announcement that the film will be debuting on Netflix, Some American cinema companies such as AMC, Regal and Cinemark are threatening to boycott the movie, saying that they will not be screening the film if it debuts on Netflix.

Cineplex in Canada and Europe's Cineworld also refused to feature the film because of this. According to these companies, debuting the film on an online streaming service will defeat the purpose of an exciting movie experience.

On a side note, the cast of 'The Green Destiny' is currently filming in New Zealand, working with a team that is composed of all seasoned feature players.
