Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain becomes the first ever player from the National Basketball Association (NBA) to be featured on a commemorative postage stamp issued by the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Donald Hunt of the Philadelphia Tribune started the campaign to get Chamberlain on the stamp some six years ago, with the plea coming under consideration three years after.

The NBA hall of famer had died of a congestive heart failure in 1999. Hunt only wanted to commemorate Chamberlain's greatness as was done with baseball greats Ted Williams, Larry Doby, Joe DiMaggio, and Willie Stargell who were all placed on stamps.

The USPS has also issued stamps that featured "Black Heritage," and had influential persons in Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B Du Bois, Jackie Robinson, Oscar Micheaux, and Texas congresswoman Barbara Jordan.

Now, Chamberlain's accomplishments and everything he stood for is commemorated and immortalized.

One of the stamps features Chamberlain in the Philadelphia Warriors attire, the same one he wore when scored an unprecedented 100 points in a basketball game against the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962.

The achievement and record of Chamberlain still stands to this day.

The second stamp shows him in the Los Angeles Lakers uniform, where he spent the last five years of his career until he retired.

According to the USPS, their tribute is also apparent in the size of the stamp, as they both are two inches tall. This size is about a third taller than regular stamp heights at 1.5 inches.

The "Chamberlain Forever" stamp will be commemorated in his hometown of Philadelphia on December 5. The ceremony will be held during the halftime game of the Philadelphia 76ers against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
