New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is in the news again, this time for having surpassed 40,000 yards passing for his team during the Saints' game against Tampa Bay Sunday. He now becomes the fastest player in NFL history to get to that mark playing with a single team.

Brees threw an 8-yard pass to running back Travaris Cadet in the first quarter of the game, his 132nd game with the Saints. He joined the club in 2006 as a free agent.

The previous mark was held by Hall of Famer Dan Marino, who reached 40,000 yards during his 153rd game with the Miami Dolphins 27 years ago.

Brees had 39,936 yards as a Saint when he entered the game Sunday against Tampa Bay,  and 52,284 yards for his career. He had earlier played for five seasons with San Diego Chargers.

In June, Brees's team and fans went into panic when rumors about an automobile accident spread on social media, saying he had lost both his legs and would be permanently disabled.

The story turned out to be false, and Brees was quick to post on Twitter that he was well and the accident never happened.

"I am fine. Not sure where the car accident story came from," Brees said, referring to the accident. "It is not true. I appreciate everyone's concern but I am ALL GOOD!" Brees exclaimed.
