Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is set to travel in Germany this week and business leaders have high hopes for the trip, expecting it to show that the China's reform paves the way for bigger business opportunities.

China is transforming into a very big consumer market for Europe, according to Hamburg Chamber of Commerce deputy director of the international department Jens Assmann.

He said companies are interested in learning the ropes of Chinese economic reforms to help them usher more international businesses into the Chinese market, he told China Daily.

The visit, which will run from Thursday to Saturday, marks the second time that Li will visit Germany since he became the Premier in March last year. He will be among the chairpersons of the third China-Germany Intergovernmental Consultations, according to state-run news agency Xinhua.

In an interview with China Daily, Assmann said they are eager to listen to Li's views on the urbanization of China and the "greening" of its economy. They also want to hear his opinion about the solutions that Europeans can offer to China, the report said.

Ian M. Oades, vice president of finance of sanitary ware manufacturer Joyou AG, predicts that the visit will benefit not only Germany, but the whole Europe, too.

"I expect this trip will bring more investment from German enterprises and also support Chinese companies in increasing their business in Germany," Oades said.

Oades also expressed his hope in Li's continued support for the further opening up of Chinese markets.

For Alexandra Voss, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Beijing chief representative, Li's trip represents another opportunity for the two nations to strengthen their ties. It will give them the chance to discuss urbanization, environmental protection, sustainable growth and other "far-reaching reforms," Voss added.

Aside from Germany, Li will also be visiting Italy, Russia and the office of the UN Food and Agricultural Organization until October 15. Right after that, the Chinese Premier will be in Milan to attend the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting summit.
