How Benedict Cumberbatch Brought Alan Turing to Life "The Imitation Game"

38-year-old British actor, Benedict Cumberbatch, who is best known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in BBC's Ones "Sherlock" and his utterly amazing portrayal of Khan in Star Trek, has had Oscar nomination rumors surrounding him ever since the first critics' screening of his new film, a biopic about mathematician Alan Turing.

'The Imitation Game' which premiered in London last night, shows Cumberbatch thoroughly immersed in the character. The actor told Glenn Sumi, who runs Cumberbatchweb that "As an actor you often draw your characters on your own experiences and memories, but, I really didn't have to do so with this character because just imagining Alan Turing's physical weakness, his vulnerability, exhaustion and how his hormones had affected his emotional state was all ungovernable for me."

The movie was also mentally and emotionally draining for the highly skilled actor, he was quoted saying, "Everything he had was going: his intellect, his stature, his health. He became a shell of what he was. And that upset me, to strip him down to that level."

The film, directed by Morten Tyldum which also stars Keira Knightley, centers around the life of Mathematician Alan Turing, including his being a key figure in cracking Nazi Germany's 'Enigma code' thus leading to the Allies win during World War II.

The film also touches on the sensitive topic of homosexuality, training was criminally prosecuted for being a homosexual leading to his suicide in 1954.

The Imitation Game will be showing in theatres for a limited time starting November 21, 2014
