At a press conference held at the Sheraton Towers in Singapore last October 8, the lineup for the cast of '1965' has been revealed along with the news that Tay will be the lead.

Singaporean actress Joanne Peh's participation in the film was a surprise that the production team has given the media. Peh will be playing the role of Zhou Jun, who is a tough coffee shop owner.

According to the actress, the proposal for her to join the cast began last year with Randy Ang, the director of the film, sending her the initial drafts for the script.

Peh stated that she does not have any reservations about playing the role in an interview she had regarding '1965'. The actress seems to feel at ease working with the director, saying that Ang listened to her comments regarding the character she will be portraying.

"He put in the changes and I thought, 'Ok, that's making sense' and they got serious about casting me. That's why I agreed to do it," says Peh, adding that she accepted the role mainly because the character and story was meaningful.

On the other hand, James Seah, will also be playing a key role in the film as Peh's love interest. In the film, Seah will be playing, Seng, who is the younger brother of Qi Yuwu's character.

The 24-year old actor revealed that he wasn't too worried about acting alongside more seasoned actors despite the film being their first collaboration. He says that it was a good form of pressure in order for him to improve his acting skills.

On the other hand, '1965' is scheduled to start production later this year.
