"Out of the Woods" is the second single from Swift's new album "1989".

Speaking about her collaboration with Antonoff, Swift shared, "I tend to want to create something with my guitar or piano and bring it in, then we create the track from the ground up. But with Jack, he has something very emotional about what he does when creating a track. I can kind of read that emotion as soon as I hear it, and we work very well that way."

Swift shared that after Antonoff had sent her an earlier version of the song, she added on the melody, a verse and a chorus. The singer shared that they "were just freaking out" with what they had produced.

Antonoff also praised Swift for her songwriting abilities, sharing that "she wove this whole story that felt like it came from the outer space of your head."

While Antonoff may have stated that Swift has simply created a story out of thin air, many speculate that the song may be about her former boyfriend, Harry Styles of One Direction.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Swift sang the song's lyrics "Remember when you hit the brakes too soon. Twenty stitches in a hospital room." The particular line, according to the singer was inspired by a snowmobile accident she had with her ex wherein they lost control of the vehicle and had to go to the ER to get stitches.
