Independence Day 2 Scoops on Release Date and Plot

Independence Day 2

(Photo : Ralph Orlowski ) German film director Roland Emmerich, is pictured prior to a podium discussion during the book fair in Frankfurt October 14, 2011. The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world's largest trade fair for books and runs until October 16. This year's guest of honour is the country of Iceland.

Independence Day back in 1996 was the movie that launched Will Smith's career. The movie comes back to cinemas for its 2nd installment. After 18 years, 20th Century Fox said its release date will be on July 1, 2016.

This new installment will actually have two parts, Independence Day Forever Part 1 and Independence Day Forever Part 2. Roland Emmerich will still be taking the director's chair just like the first installment, while Dean Devlin is producing it.

Now about the casting, Emmerich already made a statement that the audience won't be expecting Will Smith as part of it because his fee is just too high.  The studio couldn't afford him now so they are definitely finding a new actor to take the lead.

Half of the cast who were once part of that film will still be on this sequel. One of the actors who is sure to be part of this now is Jeff Goldblum, who played the role of David Levinson back then. The plot of the story is still under construction as the writers, Carter Blanchard and Dean Devlin are still doing some revisions. According to some movie experts, if the story is well written and the production is great, then it doesn't matter if Smith is there or not. It would just probably cause a lot of pressure to whoever they will cast for the lead role because that could mean having to go after Smith's epic performance.

Independence Day Forever Part 1 is out on the theaters on July 21, 2016. Don't dare miss it.
