Iron Man's hand? Pat Starace, an animator and a mechanical designer, has just developed a more fun way for kids to appreciate having a prosthetic hand.

Kids can now feel like their superhero Iron Man as a 3D-printed prosthetic hand complete with voice control and laser beam-like capabilities has been developed and is now ready for use.

In a video he uploaded to explain the whole mechanical prosthetic, Starace said he built the Iron Man hand is to solve a mechanical problem, look awesome and raise the self-esteem of children to "superhero levels."

He also talked about the design goals and noted it should look awesome. It should be able to perform like a real hand, and there should be no visible strings that could have an impact on its visual aesthetics.

He also talked about how to put the prosthetic, The prosthetic hand has no visible strings since it was put altogether using covers and snaps. It can actually be removed by dismantling the whole prosthetic.

The strings are hidden and that makes it flexible. The hand is also a container so things such as wireless devices, smartwatches and sensors, can be placed inside it.

The hand comes with Bluetooth connectivity, a battery, a USB charger and a computing tool that makes it voice activated. When one tilts the hands, the beam turns on via voice control like when Iron Man asks J.A.R.V.I.S to turn his "thrusters" on.

Starace said he will give the Iron Man hands for free. This is the first hand ever made, however. It hasn't been used in the real world yet.
