Top seeded Andy Murray rallied back from a set down against David Ferrer to win the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Austria on Sunday.

Britain's No. 1 Murray was serving well in the first set as he delivered five service aces but not all of his first serves got through which Ferrer took advantage as he jumped on every second serve the Scot dished out to take the set with return winners.

Murray adjusted in the second set as he also took advantage of the Spaniard's second serves to break Ferrer twice and even the match at one set apiece to send it into a decider.

In the third set, both players were aggressive in each other's serves as they exchanged breaks three times before Murray had a chance late in the set to break Ferrer for the match and grabbed it to win his 30th title 7-5 2-6 7-5 which lasted two hours and 42 minutes.

The 27-year-old Scot earned an additional 150 points for winning the tournament and has extended his lead by 110 points against ninth placer Ferrer in the year-ending event of the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

"The next few weeks are extremely important," Murray said. "Everyone is playing next week. I just need to win as many matches as possible to keep hold of the eighth or go higher."

Ferrer, 32, still has a chance to qualify as there are two more tournaments before the prestigious event.

"I have reached the final, so it is positive," Ferrer said. There are two more weeks, which are important to get to London. I will try and be more positive next week."

The two are off to Spain to participate at the Valencia Open 500 where Ferrer is top seeded but Murray is now third seeded since Tomas Berdych, seeded second, is also in the tournament and is also gunning for a spot at the season-ending event.
