Kim II Sung, founder of North Korea, was found to have ordered his doctors to find a way to extend his life to reach 100 years.

Kim, who was Kim II Sung's doctor till she deflected in 1992 to South Korea, said she headed a research at a "Longevity Center," which was built to aid in Kim II Sung's pursuit for a longer life.

However, despite the efforts, he  died at age 82 in July 1994, still a longer lifespan than the average life expectancy in the country, which was 64 years.

Kim said that she and fellow researchers came up with different ways to for a longer lifespan.

"We did a lot of research," she said. But she added that they could only administer the treatments that was chosen by the North Korea founder, from the list of options that they provided.

"He wanted to rule as long as possible." Kim said. "I think he wanted to extend his life for his own satisfaction."

According to Kim, one method of treatment that Kim II Sung preferred later in his life was blood transfusions from donors who were in their twenties.

She added that there was a screening process for the potential blood donors, and those who were chosen to give their blood to the "Eternal President" were fed with a special, highly-nutritious food prior to the donation.

In addition to the blood transfusion, the North Korean leader also enjoyed watching funny shows that could make him laugh.

Having decided that laughter and happiness could extend one's life span, the Longevity Center prescribed more laughter to Kim II Sung.

The North Korean leader can be seen laughing and smiling in the majority of his photos.
