The survey result, which was incorporated in the report dubbed Chinese Mass Affluent Report 2014, said the rise in private invested capital was driven by existing deposits, cash, and the increase of the value of properties.

The investment capital includes cash, bond, insurance, stocks, funds, and other financial products and property that are ready to be invested.

The survey also showed that 54 percent of the Chinese middle class have finished a bachelor's degree, and 10 percent possess at least a master's degree.

Around 60 percent of those who answered the survey were aged 30 to 50, the report said.

The survey also found out that most Chinese middle class own a home, with 15.5 percent saying they have more than three properties and are keen on buying more in the future. Around 58 percent also said they do not have existing loans.
