Michael Brown, the African-American teen who was killed by a police officer in Ferguson, may have been reaching for the officer's gun when he was shot, the official autopsy report revealed Wednesday.

Brown's autopsy report was leaked to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper and has revealed that Brown might have reached for the officer's gun, outside experts stated.

This contradicts what private experts stated as well as witnesses who pressed that there was no struggle between Brown and the Missouri officer Darren Wilson during the incident which occurred in August.

According to the newspaper, the autopsy revealed that the officials who conducted the examination had found material on Brown's right hand which was consistent with the products that were discharged from the barrel off the firearm used by the officer.

According to Dr. Judy Melinek, who was not involved in the autopsy but is a forensic pathologist, the finding published in the newspaper supports the fact that Brown actually reached for the gun as gunpowder particulates were found in the wound. Melinek added that the autopsy also contradicts the witness' accounts which stated that Brown was running away from the officers and that his hands were up.

The newspaper also wrote, but did not name the source, that Wilson told investigators that Brown pressed the barrel of his gun against his hip during the struggle that transpired inside the officer's SUV and Brown was then killed outside the vehicle. Shell casings, ballistic tests, and blood spatter analysis has supported the officer's statement, pointing to Brown as an aggressor who threatened Wilson's life.

Also obtained by the newspaper is the toxicology report, which showed that Brown used marijuana. The office administrator of the medical examiner, Suzanne McCune, said that the information in the newspaper was accurate but no official release of the documents are to be presented to the public unless the investigation about the case is already complete.

However, the Brown family's attorney, Benjamin Crump, stated on Wednesday that the autopsy still does not offer significant insight as to why Wilson killed the teenager. Reportedly, Wilson confronted Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson after they came from a convenience store and ordered them to move to the sidewalk, however, Brown did not comply.

Wilson said he reached for his gun because he feared for his safety, stating that when he ordered Brown to stop, the teenager moved toward the officer. Wilson pressed that Brown was 300 pounds and 6-foot-4, noting that he fired his gun because he might be overpowered.

All in all, Brown was shot six times. Johnson, on the other hand, testified that his friend did not try to grab the gun and had his hands up but the officer still shot him.

Wilson is still on a paid administrative leave and the grand jury will resume next month to complete the deliberation.
