Matthew McConaughey Honored At American Cinematheque Evening

American actor Matthew McConaughey was honored at the American Cinematheque Award held on Beverly Hilton in Hollywood.

The actor was awarded for his stirling reputation and prestige and for his his contributions to Hollywood.

The 44-year-old actor couldn't help but share some life lessons he'd acquired after working in Hollywood for over 20 years.

"Number one: The same script with US$10 million attached is funnier than the same script with US$1 million attached to it," he said.

He also told the audience that to be successful, an actor has to be ready all the time. He shared an incident when he never read a script until he was on the set, only to find out that it was actually a monologue in Spanish.

He also spoke about his children: "I so love having my children engaged on set," continuing that he used to think it was a bad idea until he became a father.

Then there were some light-hearted snippets about the honoree.

For the actor's case, it was stint as a romcom staple. Host Jimmy Kimmel joked: "He's not just a pretty face: he's also got a hot body."

By the way, the actor has been leading man to some of the most popular romcom actresses, including Kate Hudson and Reese Witherspoon.

McConaughey eventually transitioned into playing critically-acclaimed, serious roles. Dubbed as the 'McConaissance,' the actor's career recently gained momentum when he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his stirring performance in Dallas Buyers Club.

His role in the motion pictures The Lincoln Lawyer and Magic Mike, and in the HBO's TV series True Detective also earned critical raves.

McConaughey is slated to star in Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie, which also features Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, will hit cinemas on November 5.
