Rumors of a "Clerks 3" movie have been circulating among fans for quite some time now. According to a recent report from IGN, it appears Kevin Smith's third installment of the "Clerks" movie franchise will officially go into video production June of 2015.

Kevin Smith's movies earlier in his career were all based on experiences in his life. "Clerks," "Mallrats" and "Dogma" may have not made record-breaking box office sales, but they certainly grew a vast amount of passionate fans and became cult classics along the years.

"Clerks exists because I was a clerk, Mallrats because I hung out at the mall, and Dogma because I was an altar boy and in Catholic school for eight years." Smith said in an interview with The Verge.

Kevin Smith slowly began to dry up as a movie producer when tackling more typical Hollywood movies like Cop out. There was a time when Smith stopped making movies altogether with no plans on coming back to the industry.

However, he decided to take on a new project with his most recent film called Tusk, which seemed to have changed his mind on returning to the roots of his movies and bringing back another Clerks to his passionate fan-base.

In an interview with The Verge, Kevin Smith mentions some possibilities on some of the "Clerks" 3 plot.

The first two installments of Clerks were heavily focused on the character Dante, however Smith mentions that "Clerks 3" will be focus on the hilariously immature Randal.

One fan recently took to Reddit and asked whether Randal would address the rise of Netflix and Redbox, considering at the end of Clerks 2 he opened a video rental store. Smith answers, "Randal addresses a lot of things that have changed in Clerks 3. This is most definitely one of them."
