Japan's robot creators unveiled a new robot prototype named Jadeite Quarter at the annual Digital Content Expo in Tokyo on Thursday.

Brave Robotics has collaborated with Asratec and Takara Tommy, also known as Tomy Co. Ltd. the creator of original Transformers, to build a one-quarter-scale autobot that can transform from bi-pedal humanoid robot into an action-ready automobile, Daily Mail Online reported.

The ongoing engineering project of the three Japanese companies sought to build a 16-foot-tall transforming car.

Jadeite Quarter's stands 4.3 feet (1.3 meters) tall and it weighs 77 lbs. (35kg). The creators' next goal is to form a half-scale model, 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) tall by 2016, according to some sources.

The team plans to build a full-sized Jadeite Transformer robot that morphs into a 16.4 foot long (5 meter) car, which is scheduled to be completed by 2020, Brave Robotics developer Kenji Ishida said.

The robot can walk on two legs at a speed of 0.62 mph (1km/h). However, when in a 'car mode' the two-seater can drive up to 6.2 mph (10 km/h).

The transformable robot is powered by 'V-Sido OS,' a proprietary software system designed by creator Wataru Yoshizaki of Asratec Corp.

The team doesn't have plans to release the robot to the public, only the prototype model.

Jadeite Quarter was Ishida's second Transformer robot. The robot creator released his first real-life transformer robot in 2012.
