You may be used to accepting offers in a Western country but in China, this does not always work. Chinese people would love to see humility in their visitors and saying No to an offer is entirely OKAY. However, you don't have to always refuse to show you are humble especially when you have been offered a couple of times already.

2.       China speaks English too!

A common notion is that the Chinese people do not speak English. This is entirely wrong as the country has been emerging into the global scene, and learning to speak the international language is becoming common. Learning useful Chinese sentences before visiting the country would also help you.

3.       It's beef, not dog meat.

Don't be afraid to try Chinese food thinking it's dog meat. According to CNN reports, dog meat consumption has been declining and people now prefer to keep dogs and cats as pets.

4.       Don't leave your chopsticks upright inside a bowl of rice.

This is a completely rude gesture. Leaving chopsticks upright on a rice bowl is associated with funerals. Chinese people leave chopsticks upright in a rice bowl on their loved one's tombstones as food offerings for them to eat in the afterlife.

5.       Bring your own toilet paper.

There is a great chance that you would have to squat on a toilet bowl; don't be afraid to do so. Some toilets offer this kind of "comfort" to a traveler which is way better than using a regular toilet. However, don't forget to bring your own toilet paper.
