Apple's latest handsets were made available for preorders in all of South Korea's mobile carriers Friday, with two of the networks reported to have received tens of thousands of orders in under an hour, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

The figure surpassed the numbers for the preorders for the native electronics manufacturer Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 in a similar timeframe in the previous month.

The trend of the big preorder figures seen in other countries are continuing in South Korea. In the United states and several other key markets, the starting iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus preorders hit 4 million in only 24 hours on Sept. 12. In China, where the release of the devices from Apple was delayed due to the late issuance of permits to sell the handsets in the country, preorders for the latest iPhones reportedly exceeded 20 million in three days.

Apple had announced in the middle of October that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be made available to 36 more parts of the world before the month ends. If the company is successful in their plan, the latest handsets would be available in 69 markets altogether. By the end of the year, Apple intends to expand the phone to 115 nations, which the company said would be the fastest rollout of iPhones to date.

In Samsung's homeland, the iPhone 6 will be officially available on Friday. On the same day, Apple will also be launching the handsets in Bosnia, Albania, Estonia, Croatia, Guam, Greece, Iceland, Hungary, Latvia, Kosovo, Macau, Lithuania, Mexico, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Thailand and Ukraine.

KT Corp, one of the three South Korean telecommunications companies, said that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models received 10,000 preorders in just a minute, then shot over 50,000 in 30 minutes. LG Uplus, another carrier, said it was able to receive 20,000 preorders for Apple's latest phones in 20 minutes.
