Authorities involved in the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting investigation say that the gunman had invited his victims to the cafeteria via text message just before the attack - leaving no doubt the shooting was pre-planned and that he did not shoot people at random.

The shooter, 15-year-old homecoming prince Jaylen Fryberg, sent a text message to his two cousins and three other teenaged girls inviting them to eat lunch together in the school cafeteria. Little did they know that Jaylen would be arriving with a .40 caliber handgun with intent to kill.  After killing one and seriously injuring the other four, Jaylen then turned the gun on himself.

One of the girls, 14-year-old Zoe Galasso, died on the scene, while Gia Soriana, 14, died from fatal wounds in the hospital two days later. Shaylee Chuckylnaskit and the shooters two cousins, Nate Hatch and Andrew Fryberg  remain in the hospital receiving treatment.

Hatch was reportedly shot in the jaw and is the only victim to have shown some improvement so far. Doctors at the Harborview Medical Center considered him in satisfactory condition.

"I love you and I forgive you Jaylen rest in peace," Hatch said on Twitter.

Sherriff Ty Ternary confirmed one of Jaylen's family members legally purchased the .40 caliber handgun used in the shooting, but details on how he got it remains unknown. Investigators will be looking through mass amounts of text messages and social media records in an effort to find any credible information on the motive behind the shooting.

Some speculate it could have been something to do with a girl, following reports from his friends and his depressed posts on Twitter saying things like "It won't last ... It'll never last," and "I should have listened. ... You were right ... The whole time you were right."

The Marysville high school continues to hold memorials and vigils outside, where groups of mourners can be seen holding flowers and zip-tying signs with school colors to the fence.
