MTV orders 10 episodes for Scream TV show

MTV is once again proving its love for horror. They recently announced that they have picked up cult classic horror film "Scream" as a TV series. The show will be a remake of the movie that starred Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox.

MTV made the announcement via a series of tweets packed with Emoji characters that reference to the Dimension film franchise.

The highschool based show will star a whole cast of newcomers, namely --- Willa Fitzgerald, John Karna, Amy Forsyth, Carison Young and Amadeus Serafini. The pilot episode was directed by Jamie Travis and produced by Jill Blotevogle who also wrote the script that was originally penned by Dan Dworking and Jay Beattie for the film.

The show was picked up for 10 more episodes and will premiere in October of 2015. It was not disclosed if the knife wielding killer Ghostface will be making an appearance in the episodes to torment the highschoolers.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein will be the executive producers, they also have Wes Craven, Tony Disanto, Liz Gateley and Marianne Maddalena signed on as producers on the show.

The most recent MTV TV series' success is the "Teen Wolf" franchise, which was a darker version of Michael J. Fox's 1985 movie of the same name. 

In releated news, Glee executive producer Ryan Murphy recently announced that he will have a new anthology series on Fox entitled "Scream Queens" which will be set in a College campus rocked by murders, the show will debut in Fall of 2015.
