The National Basketball League's (NBA) 2014-2015 season has just started, giving basketball fans all over the world reason to celebrate. However, the Los Angeles Lakers had an uneventful night as they hosted and lost to the Houston Rockets (108-90).

The night was full of bad news for the Lakers.

The start of the night was full of hope and excitement, as it seemed that vintage Kobe Bryant had come back with a pull-up jumper from the left wing with 8:37 left in the first quarter.

This was the first field goal that Bryant had scored since December 2013, when he suffered a knee injury that took him out of the season.

Bryant finished the game with 19 points, 6 of 17 in shooting in 30 minutes. He even had a slick no-look assist to Wesley Johnson on the fast break.

However, Harden and the Rockets were too much.

Harden had 32 points in the game, including 22 in the first half, with most of his points coming from the free throw line. He led his team to victory that night.

As if the loss wasn't enough, Bryant had a scuffle with former teammate, Dwight Howard.

With Bryant guarding, Howard had just rebounded the ball and was looking to transition to offense. Howard was shifting the ball away from Bryant and managed to slip in an elbow to his face in the process.

The two were about to come to blows when their teammates breaking them up. Bryant called Howard "soft" for his troubles.

The problems kept coming for the Lakers, as rookie Julius Randle broke his leg in his debut game.

The Lakers' top draft choice broke his leg midway through the fourth quarter. Randle was driving to the basket when his right foot buckled and he collapsed on court. Other players had heard a "pop" during that moment.

"It's a fluke injury," Bryant commented, and added that they will be there to help out the 19-year old rookie a day at a time.
