Rajon Rondo Confirms 'In Code' His Return for Celtics' Season Opener

According to a report from Boston.com, Rajon Rondo has declared he will be playing in the season opener for the Boston Celtics tonight against the Brooklyn Nets - except Rondo appears to have answered in his own unique way.

Those who are in tune with Rajon Rondo's idiosyncrasies know how much the all-star point guard loves to mess around with the media. He's very clever on the court, but just as clever off the court as well.

After Rondo suffered an ACL injury and underwent procedure in early of 2013, he sent out a message via Twitter simply stating "29,233,380 seconds."  The tweet left multiple media outlets scratching their heads trying to figure out what Rondo was trying to say.

It turns out the number of seconds Rondo stated translates to a total of 338 days, which was the exact amount of time Rondo took from returning to action starting from his Feb. 13 surgery date to Jan.17 against the Lakers.

Now Rondo appears to be talking in code yet again on when he'll be returning after suffering a broken hand while slipping in the shower last month. When asked by reporters recently whether he'll be able to play on the season opener for the Celtics, Rondo replied with a smile, "Probably 79 percent right now"

Adam Kaufman from Boston.com did some digging and found out that Rondo's reply could just be another clever code for the media to wrap their heads around (seems like it worked).

If you divide the 505 total career games Rondo's played during the regular season and divide those by the 639 total possible games, you get 79%. This leads Kaufman to believe Rondo is indeed going to play Celtics' season opener tonight.

"So long as he doesn't incur a setback over the next two practices leading up to the game, Rondo is going to play on Wednesday," the Boston.com writer said. "If you're a gambler, consider it your lock of the week."
