A photo of Chinese women spontaneously dancing outside the Place du Louvre in Paris became the latest hot thread on Weibo, picking up 55-thousand comments and 7-thousand likes and has been shared more than 26-thousand times.

The women in the photo wore red and were dancing the square dance, a popular dance in mainland China.

Some netizens had doubted the authenticity of the photo, but user "Garfield" confirmed it to be real, adding that he accidentally spotted the dancing women, took their picture, and posted it untreated because he said he did not know how to edit photos.

Netizen "Photosynthesis Alex" said the photo did "not match with the high art around."

Others enthused over the photo.

"I think it is very great. Foreigners are very interested in Chinese culture. They would feel great," said netizen "Li ya mo Li Xiaochen".

Seeing how his photo became an instant viral hit, "Garfield in Hong Kong" regretted not having taken a video of the dancing women.

"I knew that is square dance because my photo became hot topic on Weibo. I know that I need to take a video not photo next time. The world is changing so fast. Telling truth with photos was past, and this is the time of telling truth with video," he posted.

Chinese people are inclined to suddenly and spontaneously shift to dance mode in public, a practice that they have done for ages.

In recent months, some city residents in the mainland have complained against the loud music coming from groups of elderly Chinese who dance in parks, gardens, and other vacant spaces.

The elderly have stubbornly defended their love for dance, saying it is their form of exercise.
