The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a devastating loss in their first game, when rookie Julius Randle broke his leg, remaining on the sidelines for the season. However, Kobe Bryant is trying to turn the team's struggles into a bonding experience.

Head Coach Byron Scott said that Randle was crying in a private room at Staples Center after his bad break on his very first NBA game. Scott held him and listened to him cry.

It was actually Bryant who made Randle cry. Not in a rude or mean way. Instead, Bryant told Randle that he should get it out of his system with a big cry.

"Then it's time to go from there," Bryant said.

The Lakers have been through several unfortunate events. Besides Randle's injury, the team also lost Steve Nash to a back injury that will not allow him to play.

After the 111-99 loss to Phoenix, Bryant was visibly annoyed and irritated.

"Getting your butt kicked a little bit, the frustration boils over, naturally," he said.

However, despite the injury of Randle, Bryant continues to bond with him through the experience.

Bryant said that he spoke to Randle last Tuesday night and then early last Wednesday. He is using contact as the lynchpin for Randle's support.

Bryant also mentioned how the Lakers are an organization that takes care of its own. James Worthy also called Randle to let him know about his experiences with an injury.

Blake Griffin was also a player who lost his rookie season to injury. These stories have to inspire Randle, and Randle has to in turn draw inspiration from them.

Steve Nash had indicated in previous seasons that the Lakers were sorely lacking in team chemistry.

While Bryant isn't the best teammate, he is learning and putting all his effort into it.
