Samsung had the last few months rough with its declining sales. The company decided to cut prices for several handsets including the Samsung Galaxy S5 and now it is offering two new metal models -- the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3. It's a major change from Samsung's previous plastic editions.

The thickness of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 are 6.9 mm and 6.7 mm, respectively. The iPhone 6 is at 6.9 mm while the iPhone 6 Plus is at 7.1 mm.

This makes the Galaxy A3 and A5 the thinnest handsets ever developed. The Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor but the A5 has 2 GB of RAM while the A3 only has 1 GB of RAM.

It's still unknown whether Samsung will use Snapdragon processors or its own Exynos SoCs. The A5 also has a 15 MP rear camera and both the Galaxy A5 and A3 house a 5 MP front camera with selfie features such as the Palm Selfie, Wide Selfie, Beauty Face Features, Animated GIF and Rear-cam Selfie. Video capture is at 1080p @30fps.

The Samsung Galaxy A3 comes with a 4.5-inch QHD Super Amoled display with 540 pixels resolution and 245 ppi pixel density while the Galaxy A5 features a 5.0-inch Super Amoled display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and 294 ppi.

Both smartphones run Android 4.4 KitKat and Samsung has yet to confirm whether the devices will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update or not.

Both the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 have 16 GB of in-built memory storage expandable to 64 GB through microSD cards while the A3 comes with 1900 mAh battery unit and the A5 comes with a 2300 one with the new Ultra Saving Mode.
