Will Cornick stabbed Ann Maguire in April using a kitchen knife seven times while she was teaching Spanish at the Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds. After his attack, Cornick returned to his desk and even uttered "Good times" while his shocked classmates just looked at him. Before he stabbed her, Cornick even winked at a classmate.

The Sun Daily reports that intense hatred for his 61-year-old teacher was the reason behind Cornick's action. The teen openly shared his feelings about Maguire before the murder. Judge Peter Coulson, wo sentenced the teen to a minimum 20 years jail term, noted that Cornick was even proud of what he did and was not sorry for taking a human life.

The stabbing was preceded by his parents being called to school by Maguire in February because he failed to make his Spanish homework. Before he killed his teacher, Cornick showed some students knives and a bottle of whiskey to celebrate the death of Maguire.

"In my eyes, everything I've done is fine and dandy," The Guardian quoted Cornick, who is a minor was unidentified during the trial. Justifying his decision, Coulson said, "There's a public interest in naming a defendant who has been convicted or murder."

With psychiatrists warning that the teen has psychotic elements in his personality, which makes him capable of repeating the gruesome crime that shocked Britain, the judge hinted that Cornick may never be set free. In his Facebook message to a friend in December 2013, Cornick shared plans to brutally kill Maguire and didn't mind spending the rest of his life in prison since he would have no worries about money.

That should be good news for another teacher whom Cornick planned to be his second victim. Cornick disclosed to psychiatrists that he planned to knife the pregnant teacher on her tummy so he could kill her as well as the fetus inside.

Prosecuting barrister Paul Greaney disclosed that the juvenile's parents, Ian and Michelle Cornick, were allowed to join their son in the dock after acquiring special permission from Paulson. "They are at a loss to understand how and why their son has turned out as he has," Greaney shared.

Fellow students and teachers from Corpus Christi said that Cornick, a quiet loner and who comes from a middle-class family, is intelligent and an academic achiever.

He started to develop "deep-seated and irrational hatred" for Maguire - his Spanish teacher since Year 7 and due to retire months before she was killed - at about the same time that Cornick was diagnosed with diabetes, leading to an apparent personality change.

Also in the court room was Don, the husband of the slain teacher, and their two daughters, Emma and Kerry. Maguire, an ex-math teacher who became a gardener, disagreed with the reduced sentence that Cornick got because he is under 18. He described his wife's killer as being callously cruel which defies comprehension.
