Nixie

Nixie, wearable and flyable aerial drone

A drone wristband that has a camera mounted on it is reportedly the next big thing for when you have to take a selfie and you want it to be extra awesome. Nixie is the name of the said drone and it has taken over GoPro.

The Nixie camera with the slogan "set your camera free" is basically what the phrase suggests. Nixie works as a wristband and is worn like a watch and it's flexible bands will turn into a quadcopter and can be captivated when one commands it to do so.

The company has posted a YouTube video of the said camera and pressed the following advantages of the device noting that there are so many moments people want to share and remember. First, the narrator in the video said, "Imagine a camera that: goes past your arm's reach; goes beyond your perspective; follows you; and sets you free."

The camera is said to capture both videos and photos as it has found a way to produce motion-prediction algorithms and sensors. It also has a 360-degree panorama so it can capture the whole area and it could trail behind the person as it is suspended high in the air.

According to reports, the developers of Nixie are already making a big name as it just won Intel's "Make It Wearable" contest on Monday. The  prize was allegedly at US$500,000 in order for them to make a physical output of the product.

The developers of Nixie include a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford with a Ph.D. in experimental physics named Christoph Kohstall, a technical programmer at Google named Jelena Jovanovic, and a flight control expert and filmmaker named Michael Niedermayr.

The Nixie is still a prototype at this point and you can follow updates about it in the website: www.flynixie.com.
