Country Icon Garth Brooks Returns With Man Against Machine

It's been more than 10 years since country music strongman Garth Brooks released his last album, but the singing legend is now back with his latest album, Man Against Machine, slated to hit the market this week.

Brooks was the biggest country music star from the 1990s until he decided to walk away from fame in 2001 to spend more time with his family.

While the music industry that Brooks left in 2001 was different from the music industry today (album sales at that time totaled 700 million compared to last year's 250 million), the country music singer still goes for his trademark, artery-clogging American rock  with a twist of "zippy nod to Western swing" and "soggy ballads," New York Times notes.

But Brooks was surprised to find out that the rules have changed.

"iTunes, streaming, YouTube - all these things we don't do. We call that a form of protecting the music. But that's how they make their living. So to find a record deal in this day wasn't easy," he said.

After deciding to retire, Brooks returned to Oklahoma where he raised his three daughters.

"I left something that was fabulous and I loved for something that was more fabulous and I loved more," he said.

Brooks said that it was difficult for him to send them away to college, but that finally gave him the opportunity to "come back" and not stay at home "sitting at home, crying myself to sleep at night."

It just feels good to work again, he continue.

But while the music industry has totally changed, Brooks still retained that power to wow the audience. The singer, who is slated to hit the road again, already sold more than a million tickets for his road tour. He's almost selling a million tickets just in the US for his eight-city tour.
