Android Flagships Confirmed to Receive Android 5.0 Lollipop Soon: Galaxy S4, LG G3, Nexus 5 and Galaxy S5

Nexus and some Google Play edition device owners were said to be first to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update but other OEMs are already rolling out the upgrade to its devices now.

Several companies said they've received the source codes from Google and the race to be the first to release the update has already started.

It could take a couple of weeks more for companies to modify the update to their user interface but there's an estimate as to when the devices will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. For Motorola, the Moto G 2014 and Moto X 2014 are the first two Android devices to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

The Moto G 2014 Android 5.0 Lollipop update release is coming soon as invites for its soak test are already going out to device owners and Motorola Feedback Network members. Moto X 2014 owners also received soak test invites for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update since last week when the release notes were leaked.

Meanwhile, LG confirmed the Android 5 update rollout will start in Poland this week and other key markets will follow right after. Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG G3 features a new design language with more shadows, depth and animation, new layout and lock screen, new color schemes and improvements on notifications.

The Android 5 Lollipop AOSP build on the Xperia Z3 has changes including a more responsive UI, improved security, better performance and new ways to control its notification. Sony plans to release the latest update early in 2015 on Xperia Z3 devices first while Samsung is on its testing phase on the Galaxy S4 and S5.

The Asus Zenfone Series including the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update around April 2015 while the PadFone Infinitely might get the upgrade in June.

Meanwhile, HTC gave a 90-day mark of approximate release for the HTC One M7 and M8. The Nexus 9 will have the Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
