One month after its grand launch, alongside Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, Android 5.0 will now be available for more smartphones, especially this week.

After partnering with Google for the latest Nexus' phablet and tablet, HTC had the privilege to be one of the first companies to have the new Lollipop operating system.

The Taiwan-based tech giant announced its HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 Google Play Edition, which will finally have the Android 5.0 update starting this week, Phandroid reported. The company's vice president for product management made the announcement in his Twitter account.

Mo Versi of HTC said the HTC One M7, released last year, and the recently released One M8 will be having the Android Lollipop 5.0 update "early next week."

Versi used the word "target" release date, as the new update might still be delayed depending on circumstances. On the other hand, this is still good news for M7 and M8 Google Play Edition users.

Aside from the two HTC smartphones, Moto G 2014 version is also up for the Android 5.0 operating system. Unlike One M7 and One M8, Motorola users won't have to wait as the new Lollipop OS is now available for the second generation Moto G, Android Authority reports.

The new update will initially be available for the unlocked Moto G 2014 version, which means users that have the same smartphone but are tied in a contract with service providers won't have the update for now. Most likely, locked Moto G consumers will also have the new Google Android OS soon, said Android Authority.

With the update availability, Moto G 2014 becomes the very first smartphone with the new Android Lollipop 5.0 after Google's Nexus 6 phablet and Nexus 9 tablet. This is quite surprising as the 5-inch smartphone isn't as advanced as other devices.

It can also be noted Motorola is no longer a Google company but its Moto G has been doing well compared to the Nexus series.

On the other hand, Android Lollipop is facing yet another issue after the battery drain dilemma was addressed. Users of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 reported a mysterious Wi-Fi bug that affects smartphones and device with the latest Android OS, said Phone Arena.

The bug cuts off Wi-Fi connections to devices powered by the Android OS. The complaints came after developers exterminated the bug that caused major battery drain. The bug appears to show-up after a Nexus device's Wi-Fi switches on.

Google has yet to solve the latest issue plaguing Android 5.0 Lollipop.
