Buffalo Area Suffers From Snow Storm, Seven Dead

The Buffalo suburbs in New York are now experiencing heavy snow. Reports claim that the snow storm on Tuesday has already killed seven people and there will be 20 to 30 more inches of snow expected to fall on Thursday in just ten hours.

According to the Buffalo officials, this is the worst snow storm in forty years that the residents have experience and they pressed that people should stay home as much as possible. Due to this, hundreds of dump trucks were deployed in the area in order to remove the snow in the said area.

As for the fatalities, there has already been seven reported including an old man with a heart condition and another man who was reportedly buried under a blanket of snow while he was in his car. Six of the dead citizens were from Erie County while the other was from Genesee County.

The residents from Erie County who died included the man who was trapped in his car while three of them died due to cardiac arrest while shoveling snow.

Another man from Erie County died of a heart attack as it was announced by Erie County Health Commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein. Burstein pressed that the man needed emergency medical care but was not transported to a care facility due to the heavy snow.

As for Genesee County, the person who died from the said snow storm was identified as Jack Boyce, 56, who died after he collapsed on Tuesday morning. According to his manager, Jay Gsell, he reportedly operated a snow blower outside the sheriff's office in the said county.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said that officials and rescuers are already doing their best to get to those who need to go to the hospitals. Fire stations were also converted to shelters for the mean time.

Fifty percent of the United States are already experiencing snow by Tuesday but Buffalo has been hit the hardest. However, forecasts for the counties of Michigan and Vermont are being warned regarding heavy snowfall.

Arctic air is said to be enveloping the country and is the reason for the extreme lake-effect snow.
