Dan Jenkins Is Doing Fine After Tiger Woods Lashes Out About Parody Piece

Renowned author and golf writer from Fort Worth, Dan Jenkins, said that he is doing just fine in the wake of the criticism from golfer Tiger Woods about a parody piece that was written in December's issue of Golf Digest.

The parody piece saw the 84-year-old writer create a fictitious question-and-answer exchange with Woods.

It was heavy with humor and was headlined with the phrase, "My Interview with Tiger." The subhead read, "Or how it plays out in my mind."

The article touched on several topics that have surfaced during Woods' career. It included references to Woods' knack for changing caddies and swing coaches. It also had parts about his relationships with his fellow players, as well as touched upon his recent divorce with ex-wife Elin.

An excerpt of the piece read:

"Q: You've been incredibly rich and obscenely rich. Which is better?

A: Does Elin get a vote?"

The humor was lost on Woods as he called the piece a "grudge-fueled piece of character assassination."

Former New York Yankees short stop Derek Jeter's recently upped a website where Woods also commented.

He said that he let plenty of things slide, but he could not let this one go.

In a telephone interview, Jenkins explained that he had spent a lot of time mulling over Woods' criticism. However, he has also made clear that he does appreciate the trickledown effect of Woods' lashing out.

"I'm just sitting here giggling," Jenkins said. "It's brought a lot of attention to it."

Jenkins was surprised and really expected a different reaction from the 14-time major champion. The author thought the piece was funny, and he initially believed the professional golfer would think so as well.

While he was right about the piece being funny for him, he was wrong with regard Woods' reception.

Jenkins is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and pointed out that he has praised Woods in many non-satirical articles throughout the years.
