Parents And Three Children Dead On Their Way To Disney World

Parents of five and three of their children was killed on a car crash on Wednesday at the Interstate 20 near Calhoun. The tragedy occurred because their 16-year-old son fell asleep while driving on their way to Disney world.

The parents were identified as Michael and Trudi Hardman from Terrell, Texas. The names of their kids, who also died in the crash, were not given out. They were aged 4, 7, and 15. The accident reportedy happened in the northeast part of Louisiana minutes before eleven in the evening.

Police officials noted that there were eight of them in the SUV and only three children survived, including the 16-year-old driver. Also, none of the family members were wearing seatbelts except the driver resulting to six of them being thrown from the vehicle due the impact of the crash.

The three children who survived only suffered from minor injuries and were immediately taken to a hospital.

According to the troopers who witnessed the tragic accident, the driver drove left into the median but tried to get back onto the highway as soon as he could. However, he overestimated it resulting to the car--identified as a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe--to roll over the interstate.

The coroners from the Ouachita Parish revealed that the five family members were pronounced dead on the scene. Col. Mike Edmonson from the Louisiana State Police then released a statement pressing that their heartfelt condolences go out to the relatives and the people affected in the said crash.

Michael and Trudi are reportedly teachers in a school in Texas. Trudi taught kindergarten while her husband taught second graders. Also, both have had previous marriages noting that Trudi has two sons while Michael had three. Their four-year-old daughter, who also died in the accident, was their child in their current marriage.

The driver is still being investigated to see if he was intoxicated or impaired. The family had been planning the trip nine months ago and intended to stay at the attraction for a week.
