After several customers were able to get the $400 console for under $100 through faking product listings, Wal-Mart announced its "locked-down" on its own price matching policy, CNBC reports. The five-decade old retail store reacted after a number of its purchasers used fraud to get the Playstation 4 at a very low price.

The policy update was announced last Wednesday and the American retail store said it will not be acknowledging product listings and prices from "marketplace vendors, third-party seller, auction sites or sites requiring memberships."

"We can't tolerate fraud or attempts to trick our cashiers. This kind of activity is unfair to the millions of customers who count on us every day for honest value," John Forrest Ales, Wal-Mart's spokesperson said in a statement.

Wal-Mart's spokesperson also said the goal of the price-matching policy is to make "a meaningful difference for people who want to feel confident they're getting the best price." Ales also reiterated the retail store's commitment in matching product prices in online stores as long as the listing is valid.

After many people abused their policy, Wal-Mart said they will now match prices from Wal-Mart.com and 30 major online stores only. "We will continue to listen to feedback from our customers and our cashiers to make sure our online price match policy is working," Ales added.

In line with the upcoming Black Friday sale, Wal-Mart announced last Nov. 13 that it will be matching any price listing that its customer will be able to show to their cashier. "So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we'll match it. Right at the register," the retailer announced.

To get the most out of the policy, "some ambitious shoppers" created a fake Amazon listing that priced Playstation 4 console at less than $100. Aside from the super discounted PS4, some buyers also used a glitch on Sears' website to get Wii U and 3DS bundles at $60 only.
