Roger Federer defeated Richard Gasquet of France last Sunday, giving the Switzerland team a 3-1 advantage and his country's first Davis Cup championship. They are now the 14th country to win the Davis Cup.

The 33-year-old Federer certainly has an impressive tennis resume, as he has won numerous championships throughout his illustrious career.

That's why, with the confetti raining down and Federer celebrating in front of record-breaking crowd, people thought it was the perfect picture to cap such an amazing career.

However, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Though Federer is reported to have a bit of a back injury, there certainly was no indication of such when he faced Gasquet. He beat him in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.

Even though he has won almost everything a tennis player could ever hope to win, Federer is still devoted to playing tennis and improving his sport, craft, and skills.

He already signed up to play in India next month in a new Asian tennis league, while he visits Brisbane, Australia for the opening week of the 2015 season.

"I always said that it was very good for Federer to win the Davis Cup and very good for Davis Cup to have Federer's name engraved on it," said Francesco Ricci Bitti, the president of the International Tennis Federation, which organizes the Cup.

He went on to say that for him, it was a very magical day. It wasn't that Gasquet did not play well--quite the contrary. Federer was just on another level, playing like a great champion and not giving anything away, Bitti explained.

Federer has been playing in the Davis Cup since he was 17 years old, way back in 1999.

This year, he had help from his teammates, as the Swiss team was bolstered by Stan Wawrinka who set the tone by beating the French number one, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga.
