The New York Giants' wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., just made a one-handed touchdown catch that gave a financial boost to Nike Inc.

A couple of nights ago, Beckham made a catch that some people say is the best in National Football League (NFL) history. Ripples of the amazing move spread outward, causing a frenzy in social media.

Beckham had caught the 43-yard pass with only one hand - and only using three fingers on that hand - even as he was being interfered with by a Cowboys defender near the sideline. Upon catching the ball, he fell backwards into the end zone.

Apart from benefitting his team that night, Beckham's catch was also quite beneficial to Nike. This was because the rookie was wearing gloves from Nike.

Thus, even though the Giants lost the game - giving up the winning touchdown in the final minute of a 31-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys - it is still a win for Nike and collectibles companies.

According to sponsorship evaluation firm Front Row Analytics, Nike was able to receive at least US $2.2 million in media exposure due to Beckham's catch.

Since the NFL draft, Beckham has been endorsing Nike. Yesterday, the company released a photo of the rookie on its official Twitter football account with the tagline, "Drop Jaws. Catch Everything Else."

There was then a link to purchase the Nike's Vapor Jet 3.0 glove.

"What a coup for Nike, whose glove helped make it possible," Bob Dorfman, executive creative director at San Francisco-based marketing firm Baker Street Advertising, said in an e-mail. "Smart of them to take advantage of a play that's become a viral sensation."

Beckham's impressive catch is calling the attention of coaches, players, and companies.

Hall of Fame tight end Mike Ditka said that he has never seen anybody make a catch like that. "That was pretty special. That was athleticism at its highest," Ditka said.
