Carmelo Anthony sustained a back injury in the New York Knicks' losing game against the Houston Rockets (91-86). Head Coach Derek Fisher says that Anthony will be re-evaluated over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Anthony was on the Knicks' bench in the second quarter, occupying two folding chairs on the bench as befitted his stature in the team. He silently sat there as he watched the Rockets build on an early lead on Monday.

After Anthony checked back in though, that was when his night really turned sour.

With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Anthony doubled over at the far end of the court, in visible pain.

After a timeout called by Fisher, he shuffled out of the locker room.

Once there, he said he was suffering from back spasms, and proceeded to miss the game against the Rockets.

With only 18 minutes in the game, Anthony was already the highest scored in the Knicks with 14 points.

After the game, he did not speak with the media. He instead left the locker room with surrounded by personnel and a towel on his head.

A team spokesman said that he was headed for a Houston-area doctor who could supply him with some pain medication.

When Anthony left, the Knicks were down 49-38. However, they rallied and went on a 14-2 run without him. In the fourth quarter, Travis Ware converted a putback and Tim Hardaway Jr. hit a 3-pointer for a six point lead (78-72).

But the Knicks were just not able to hold on to their lead, as James Harden sank a 30pointer and made six straight free throws. The Knicks went 3 minutes and 15 seconds without scoring.

James Harden scored 36 points, including 12 straight in the final minutes of the game.

The Rockets' record increases to 11-3 while the Knicks go are 4-11.
